This summer, I have been quieter than usual on my blog, newsletter and social media presence. This was because I was wrapping up the completion of my eBook: Have Tarot Will Travel: A Comprehensive Guide to Reading at Fesitvals as a Tarot Reader. It is now available on Amazon! Writing Have Tarot Will Travel began last fall and took me about 9 months from conception to completion. It was born out of the dearth of festival work information for the Tarot professional. I love reading Tarot at festivals and it was a brick in the road to building a truly comprehensice Tarot practice for myself. But there was not much out there in terms of technical information like how to handle clients of all stripes, how to deal with payments, what kind of set up works... all of that I learned through trial and error. So as an addition to the field I created Have Tarot so that it may help and sustain other pracitoners. Not only that, it fits with my overarching goal of normalizing Tarot. I hope one day that one could get a Tarot reading in the same way we get a massage or go to a yoga class, a helpful session stripped of all the drama and stigma. Creating this eBook was a true labour of love, the last push the final 3 weeks before publishing I was a hot mess, not eating until 2pm, living in yoga pants, hair up in a bun and unbrushed as I feverishly revised, typing into the long night. The last week I felt so exhausted but excited at the same time: you know when you first fall in love-- that delicious misery. I can also see how writers can get hooked, it is a heady feeling! I also got to feel the pure love of colleagues and mentors in the Tarot community, how amazingly generous and supportive everyone was for my project, a humbling experience with a heart bursting in gratitude. I know many who read this blog are not Tarot (or would be) Tarot professionals so just know this is where I have been all summer. Laid up in my office in a pique of creative creationing. For those of you who do wish to become or enhance your practice, I truly hope this will be a help to you, guiding you as you build your practice. I am an author! Happy dance! Bucket List CHECK! XO Jenna I loved running the World Tarot Day Instagram Contest! Participants snapped photos of 'Tarot in the World' people and things that look just like Tarot in real life. We know that Tarot is a mirror of the world but the world, interestingly, can often mirror Tarot. I was blown away by the creativity, sensitivity and gorgeousness of the folks who sent me snaps. Want to find them all on your own? On either Instagram or Facebook search #queenofwandstarot to find the full selection. Below are the winners of the contest along with a few of my favorites. First Place Winner Sarebear830 sent me some lovely pics but this is my absolute favorite. A fool and his dog is a winner where ever you go. She also snapped a couple of other really great pics including the 7 of Pentacles and the Queen of Cups! Check those out on her instagram profile, above. Second Place Winner Eloy sent me this incredible Ace of Cups along with some others. I think he had a lot of fun coming up with pics, you can find his full submissions by #queenofwandstarot on Facebook! Third Place Winner Cindy of Rocky Mountain Tarot Sent me this lovely Strength pic! She totally gets 3rd place for snapping this little gem. Honorable Mentions This was great fun and it was very difficult to choose who gets placement. Below are some honorable mentions that I also wanted to share with you! I personally made many submissions throughout the day but this was my favorite of the group I shared. Everyone, meet Ace of Wands! My only Lenromand contribution came from Katrina Wynne of Transformative Tarot Counseling. See what she did there? The sea and the tower? Lovely! This is an incredible, and incident shot taken by Marcus Katz of the Tarot Association renown and highly regarded Tarot author shared with me his shot of 5 of Pentacles. The resemblance is very striking. Eloy who won 2nd place above also made this stunning contribution of 2 of cups. It was hard choosing which of his many submissions were the winner! To everyone else who contributed your time, skills and talent thank you for making World Tarot Day a success! |
